Hi. I am currently in high-school. My parents are from Hong Kong and speak Cantonese but my father has learned to speak Mandarin. I know how to speak Cantonese but don’t know how to read it at all save for my name and the numbers 1 to 3. Is Chinese really that hard to learn or does it just take time which makes people think it is hard? I am motivated to learn it for various reasons. I am willing to devote necessary effort to it. Would it be recommended I learn it at my age or wait until I am older?
