If I’m Chinese and I take MAndarin for my foreign language credits, will colleges accept it?

MY friend says if you’re asian and you take Mandarin as a foreign language in high school, good colleges won’t like it or even accept it. Also, I don’t know Mandarin so I don’t know if that helps.
