does anyone know of a good program or book that can teach me how to read and write Mandarin Chinese characters? And one that can teach me the same for Korean.

Which one of these two languages do you think would be more important to learn? Not to get a girlfriend or anything. I am going into anthropology and archaeology and I am debating on which of the two languages to learn.
