I am thinking of learning Mandarin, however I am not sure of the benefits (business and social) as most people seem to be speaking Cantonese in the country, especially in Kuala Lumpur.

I want to learn Mandarin. Please Help Me. If possible with a website with correct pronunciation help. Also , Please don’t include Rosetta Stone or Livemocha because Livemocha doesn’t help and u need to pay for Rosetta Stone.

"Le" in my book says it’s pronounced like "Lur" is it correct? How do you retroflex a Chinese "r"? Is "shi2" pronounced with an "r" at the end?

I live on the west coast of America now (California) and am going to college. What kind of job could I get just being able to speak Mandarin and also with basic knowledge of Chinese customs and business practices? And where would I look for this type of job?
