If a business person is to learn one chinese dialect, which would it be: Mandarin or Cantonese?

I was listening to Chinese language podcasts on iTunes and I noticed that the words sound similar to the Taiwanese dramas like "Devil Beside You" and "Why Why Love" Are the languages really Mandarin Chinese or are they different but sound similar?

Okay, I want to learn at least basic Chinese Mandarin and I want a program. So could you tell me where can I download a good program without having to pay for it?Thanks!

i’m meeting with a chinese friend and he had to change the time of our meeting, so he said he’s sorry and i wanted to say ‘it’s okay’ or ‘no problem’ (please give me the answers in chinese characters and pinyin ^_^)

As above whose job is just to take care an elderly old lady,weighs about 40 kg,wheel chair bound.(no pets,no children to take care of).Even can take afternoon nap,can sleep early @ 8.00pm,wake up @ 7.00 am.

but what’s the point of studying chinese? why is it so popular right now, and what can you do with that once you’ve learned it?
