I’m assuming you don’t know any Mandarin Chinese at all; so i suggest Instant Immersion language learners. I’ve been using it for Spanish help and it’s really good! The entire thing of lessons 1,2, and 3 only cost about $40.00 and it has a part made for just practicing speaking as well as getting to know the language. Hope this helps!
You can google Instant Immersion if you’re interested; your nearest electronic store may have it.
Take a class
the Rosetta stone software is really, really good.. shows use pronunciation, alphabet, everything…
so worth it.. or go on amazon and get chinese mandirin for dummies… really its a great book.. i have the japanese book and its pretty good…

you seem to learn better when you are actaully in the culture
so maybe take a visit to china. and listen to the way they pronounce their words etc.
chances are you’ll pick it up more quickly this way
and try rosetta stone. i’ve never tried it, but apparently it works quite well
good luck and have fun
I’ve learned Chinese for couple of months. I also listen to a CD and repeat it. In addition, I take online lessons, and they are more convenient.
It’s pretty good that you want to learn Chinese since Chinese is a widely used language in the world. The first thing you should do is to read more, because this can help you form a sense of language. You mentioned that you learn Chinese by listening to a CD and repeating it. I think that’s a good way because you can practice a lot. The aim to learning a language is to communicate, so taking online Chinese lessons are a good choice. Not only can you master language points, but also you can talk with native Chinese people. I recommend you take lessons at http://www.eChineseLearning.com to learn Chinese. There is another good website that provides all kinds of Chinese learning materials: https://www.echineselearning.com/resources/index.html?ecl=ptEEEEEEyall021101. I am a Chinese teacher, so if you still got questions related to Chinese, please feel free to contact me anytime at https://www.echineselearning.com/ask-questions.html?ecl=ptEEEEEEyall021101. I’d like to share with you what I know!
Yes, online lessons are good; my foreign friends also took online Mandarin lessons. They could communicate with native people using simple Chinese freely now.
go to class,
I think you should learn phonetic symbols and pronunciation first , and then buy a book about how to write and pronounce simple Chinese words, then read some book for young children and listening to a CD,
First, I want to let you know that it is great you are learning how to speak Mandarin Chinese. In order to learn Mandarin Chinese there are many things you can and should do. This one is not necessary, but if possible take a class. Taking a class is great, however some people teach themselves Mandarin. Regardless if you are taking a class or not you should check out some of the free resources on the web for learning Chinese. If you can purchase a textbook with audio, listen to the audio often and try to imitate the native speakers voices. I also recommend watching tv shows and listening to music in Chinese so you can acquire an ear for the language. Last, if possible, try to find a native speaker who you can practice with.
